QUALCOMM FORMS RESEARCH PROGRAM

SAN DIEGO-Qualcomm Inc. announced it will engage in a joint research program with Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, which will focus on Qualcomm’s Code Division Multiple Access technology.

The university is a major center for training scientists and technicians, said Qualcomm. In the 40 years since its founding, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications has provided the various departments in China’s posts and telecom sectors with nearly 40,000 graduates. Its academic disciplines and special fields of study cover several areas within communications, added Qualcomm.

“Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications is a prestigious university, well respected in the areas of telecommunications education and research and development projects,” said Dr. Irwin Jacobs, chairman and chief executive officer of Qualcomm. “This partnership is a value-added opportunity to collaborate on CDMA technology.”
