Atos, Ufida team up on cloud venture in China, Europe

Atos, a European information technology services company and the worldwide IT partner for next year’s Olympic Games in London, and the Chinese management software solutions Ufida International Holdings have invested U.S. $7.8 million to create Yunano, a joint venture to offer cloud services. The joint venture — in which Atos will have a 70% percent stake, with the remainder controlled by Ufida — will be based in the French city of Bezons, near Paris.

The joint venture will focus on midsize companies in Europe and China, especially the subsidiaries of large groups, or emerging government enterprises that are in need of scalable IT solutions. Yunano aims to become an one-stop products provider, offering services and cloud applications ranging from financial systems and enterprise resource planning management software to IT consultation. Ufida is bringing its experience in ERP mangement to the venture, while Atos will provides cloud services and sales capabilities.

Wang Wenjing, chairman and CEO of Ufida, said that the joint venture would enable his company to rapidly achieve its strategic goal of globalization and access to markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Atos’ chairman and CEO, Thierry Breton, said Yunano is an important step in his company’s strategy to increase its cloud service market share in Europe and to accelerate Atos’ growth in China next year.

Ufida has more than 200 branches, 12,000 employees and 1.2 million customers.
