U.S. Cellular fills out prepaid plans

U.S. Cellular Corp. (USM) bolstered its prepaid offering with a trio of new plans it hopes will gain the interest of consumers heading into the holiday shopping season.
The plans begin at $29 per month for 200 calling minutes and unlimited messaging; ramp up to $39 per month for 400 calling minutes, unlimited messaging and 5 gigabytes of data transmission; and top out at $49 per month for 1,000 calling minutes and unlimited messaging. All of the plans also include the carriers’ free battery replacement offer.
U.S. Cellular continues to offer a $59 per month plan that includes unlimited voice calls and messaging as well as a $69 per month plan that adds in 5 GB of data.
Devices eligible for the prepaid offering are limited to the carrier’s non-smart phone lineup.
U.S. Cellular reported last month that it lost 41,000 customers during the third quarter, which included the loss of 25,000 direct postpaid customers, but no loss of prepaid subscribers.
