SAN FRANCISCO-AirTouch Communications Inc. announced its cellular ventures in Hokuriku, Tohoku and Hokkaido, Japan, have launched commercial service.
Digital Tu-Ka Tohoku and Digital Tu-Ka Hokkaido each launched within the last two months and have already signed on 100,000 subscribers.
Digital Tu-Ka Hokuriku launched its network, which covers most of the region’s population, last week. It has more than 30,000 pre-subscriptions, AirTouch said.
AirTouch said it has 4.5 percent stakes in five Digital Tu-Ka cellular companies currently offering service.
It also owns 4.5 percent of Digital Tu-Ka Shikoku, which is scheduled to begin service next month.
