CARRIERS GET ILLUMINET SUPPORT

OLYMPIA, Wash.-Several wireless carriers selected Illuminet’s Cellular Administration and Operations Support Service to manage seamless roaming in new markets and to establish roaming with other carriers, said the company.

Companies that signed on to use the service include United States Cellular Corp., BellSouth Cellular Corp., Illinois Valley Cellular, Cellular Plus and First Cellular Southern Illinois.

Illuminet said the service helps carriers increase efficiency, security and accuracy by providing a centralized exchange point that eliminates the need for carriers to notify roaming partners of updates via fax. The service also combines roaming data management with help in establishing new mobile switching centers, said Illuminet.
