DUSSELDORF, Germany-Mannesmann AG said it will be the general contractor responsible for planning and building a Global System for Mobile communications Rail Network for Deutsche Bahn’s new railway digital mobile telephone network in Germany.
The $1.6 billion contract calls for the replacement of the current analog system with a digital network. Deutsche Bahn uses the system for operating, maintenance, train, railroad car switching and vehicle communications.
