Global Tower Partners added 235 towers to its inventory. The Florida-based company bought the new towers from AT&T Mobility; the towers span across 24 states.
Financial terms of the deal, including the sale price, were not disclosed. Further, neither AT&T nor RBC Daniels (which acted as financial adviser to AT&T during the transaction) would discuss the remaining number of AT&T’s tower holdings.
Global Tower Partners acts as an outsourced antennae facilities provider for the wireless communications industry.
“We believe these locations are an excellent complement to our core owned tower portfolio and will assist our customers in addressing their future coverage needs,” said Marc Ganzi, CEO of Global Tower Partners.
Late last year, Global Tower Partners acquired 50 towers from SureWest Communications, putting its tower count to right around 10,000. With this latest purchase, that number is firmly over 10,000 and lets the company maintain its post as the No. 3 tower company in the nation.
Interestingly, AT&T is not the only carrier disposing of its tower assets; Sprint Nextel Corp. last year sold 3,300 towers for $670 million to TowerCo L.L.C.
