SEOUL, South Korea—VeriSign said it signed a deal with South Korean company 7DC to promote VeriSign’s WebNum services, which allow businesses to register for a one- to seven-digit number that corresponds to its Web address. Wireless customers can then simply type the numeric address using their mobile phones instead of the standard, letter-based domain address.
“We believe VeriSign’s WebNum solution is the fundamental key to unlock the wireless Internet,” said Donggyu Shin, 7DC’s chief executive officer.
The system is an implementation of the Enum standard.
