SAF Tehnika JSC, which manufactures wireless data transmission equipment, announced it has started producing full outdoor microwave radios in Curitiba, South of Brazil. The company’s called CFIP Lumina radios will be produced in collaboration with wi2be tecnologia, a Brazilian company focused on the development, manufacturing, marketing, financing and support of high-capacity, IP-based wireless transmission solutions, and Siemens Enterprise Communications.
According to the press release, to address the specific customer needs in Brazil, SAF Tehnika, wi2be tecnologia and Siemens Enterprise Communications are executing a unique ecosystem where full outdoor technology developed by SAF engineers has been especially tailored for manufacturing purposes at the Siemens Enterprise Communications factory in Brazil.
Siemens Enterprise Communications will be responsible for full supply chain solution including local manufacturing, repair-and-return and logistics, whereas wi2be tecnologia will handle sales, marketing, distribution and local support.
Local production is underway with first commercial units of Lumina in 6, 7, 8, 11, 18 and 23 GHz to be released in October. CFIP Lumina systems are intended for Gigabit Ethernet backbone applications delivering up to 366 Mbps per radio. Both single or dual, electrical and fiber optical interface versions are available, as well as hybrid version with one optical and one electrical port.
