Peru’s private investment promotion agency,ProInversion, expects to award 25 MHz of spectrum in the 1,900 MHz band on December 23 – the same date that technical and economic offers are to be opened, ProInversion telecoms project director, Jesus Guillen, told BNamericas.
There are four operators interested in obtaining the concession, and “two of these operators are very interested,” Guillen said, without providing further details.
ProInversion has made the project’s conditions more flexible to attract new operators. “The price of the band is more flexible,” Guillen added.
Through this process, the Peruvian government expects to attract a fourth mobile operator to the national market.
