TOKYO—Japan’s second-largest carrier, KDDI Corp., launched cdma2000 1x service, which includes enhanced voice, video and data, with plans to reach about 7 million customers by April 2003.
Analysts think the offering will serve as KDDI’s answer to rival and third-biggest carrier J-Phone, which has mounted a charge in the last six months in market share.
