Alliances: Polaris and Globecomm address E-911; Vodafone roams with Roamware; and more

Polaris Wireless and Globecomm Systems Inc. announced a partnership that aims to allow U.S. wireless operators to meet FCC E-911 Phase II requirements. According to the agreement, Globecomm is introducing a managed E911 Phase II service that uses Polaris’ E911 Phase II software solution for locating mobile devices.
Digital entertainment solutions provider Widevine said it signed a global agreement with Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. to distribute Widevine’s live and on-demand adaptive streaming, virtual service and digital rights management on Samsung TVs and Blu-Ray players.
Vodafone Roaming Services selected Roamware Inc. to provide its Network Traffic Redirection service as part of a managed traffic solution on Vodafone’s roaming hub. NTR is a solution that allows operators to influence their outbound roamers’ choice of mobile network based on signaling information, said the company.
AT&T and Cinterion Wireless Modules jointly announced the launch of the AT&T Connection Kit For Device Developers with Cinterion Wireless Modules. The quick-start kit contains all the elements needed to develop HSPA specialty wireless solutions for machine-to-machine applications for most industries and markets.
BridgeWave Communications and Provigent announced a strategic partnership that calls for the companies to collaborate to develop a chipset that provides increased spectral efficiencies to support multi-gigabit rates in up to 1 GHz RF channel bandwidth, said the companies. BridgeWave will pay Non Recurring Engineering to Provigent and Provigent will grant BridgeWave favorable terms, according to the agreement.
Pioneer Cellular, an Oklahoma-based CDMA carrier, chose Jinny Software to provide a suite of next-generation messaging solutions. The carrier will use Jinny’s SMSC, MMSC and OTA products to enhance its current service offering.
InterDigital said it expanded its patent license agreement with Inventec Appliances Corp. to include IAC’s Chinese subsidiary, Inventec Appliances (Jiangning) Corp. The expanded agreement covers the sale of certain wireless products, including 2G and 3G products sold in China.
< Motorola Inc.‘s networks business teamed up with Imagine Communication Group, which is a WiMAX supplier in Ireland, to offer its USBw 200 mobile WiMAX USB adaptor as part of a new service from Imagine targeting home office and small businesses. The USBw 200 will be available in Ireland in August 2010.
