Azimuth Systems Inc. introduced a new over-the-air mobile device testing platform this week. The Intelligent Over-the-Air (iOTA) platform has already been accepted in a Tier One operator’s mobile device test plan and in OEM labs, according to the company.
The iOTA does traditional throughput tests, as well as simulating typical subscriber usage test cases and enabling device performance to be tested in many configurable scenarios, including the playback of data from drive tests to emulate actual network conditions.
In addition, the system not only performs the tests, but enables user experience results to be correlated with network information, so that it’s easier to isolate the root causes of network issues.
Azimuth noted that it is also actively participating in the standards process for over-the-air performance testing.
—Agilent Technologies has expanded its line of signal generators with the new N5183B MXG and N5173B EXG microwave analog signal generators, launched this week to offer new choices in size, speed and cost.
Agilent described the EXG as “well-suited to the characterization of broadband microwave components such as filters and amplifiers. With low-cost coverage to 40 GHz, it also supports continuous-wave (CW) blocking for receiver testing or basic local-oscillator upconversion for point-to-point microwave backhaul links.”
The MXG is an alternative to Agilent’s flagship high-performance signal generators, with near-comparable performance in only two rack units, the company said, and enables calibration of complex systems.
—Anite said it has verified LTE-Advanced Release 10 protocols in a new LTE-A chipset from HiSilicon. The company said that its early development of testing for key LTE-A features has helped accelerate the ecosystem, including HiSilicon’s new Balong720 chipset which Anite said is the world’s first LTE Cat6 platform that supports 20 MHz + 20 MHz carrier aggregation.
Anite said that the close collaboration between the two companies led to verifying new 3GPP RAN5 LTE-A carrier aggregation protocol conformation test cases, using its Conformance Toolset solution.
—Spirent Communications has a new U.S. distributor for its Axon network and application performance assessment and troubleshooting tool for enterprises. Interlink Communications Systems will distribute Spirent Axon to domestic resellers, and the agreement is expected to enable Spirent to reach more resellers and system integrators.
Spirent’s high-speed Ethernet solutions were also recently used to test the multi-technology network providing nearly 1 Terabit per second capacity for the SC13 conference in Denver. The SCinet network had multiple 10/40/100G Ethernet links to help exhibitors demonstrate high-performance computing applications
