Mobilitie has announced that they are using CBRS technology to expand connectivity at Dignity Health Sports Park (DHSP) in Carson, California, home to the MLS club LA Galaxy.
Together, Mobilitie and DHSP are expanding the capabilities of the existing Mobilitie Distributed Antenna System (DAS) by launching a private LTE network utilizing the latest 3.5 GHz Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS).

DHSP?s newly-expanded wireless system provides a secure network that supports a variety of new technologies and will be able to support applications like remote parking lot surveillance, mobile ticket scanning, mobile media, and mobile Point of Sale (PoS) among many others. Each of these applications will run on a low-latency private network that includes Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) services.

Mobilitie currently operates a DAS with a dense fiber-to-the-edge backbone of nearly 8 miles of fiber and 24 zones. The network includes almost 300 remotes to ensure instant wireless connectivity throughout the 27,000-seat stadium, tennis stadium, parking lots and practice fields.
Mobilitie and AEG have worked together on numerous high-profile projects to provide wireless infrastructure through iconic venues such as STAPLES Center (Los Angeles), Target Center (Minneapolis) and T-Mobile Arena (Las Vegas).
Last month, BAI Communications, which is majority-owned by the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), announced the close of its acquisition of Mobilitie. The agreement for the acquisition had been initially announced on June 28 this year.
BAI operates neutral-host networks in Australia, Hong Kong, Canada, the United Kingdom and the U.S.
As part of the acquisition, BAI acquires Mobilitie?s portfolio of assets, including existing telecommunication infrastructure contracts with transit operators in San Francisco and Seattle, as well as 220 large public venues? DAS networks, 10,000 small cells and 300 tower sites across the U.S.
BAI noted that the acquisition enables the firm to strengthen and expand its current services, as it couples Mobilitie?s expertise in above-ground connected venue infrastructure solutions with BAI?s ability to deliver 5G communications infrastructure in complex transit environments.
Mobilitie will continue to operate as a separate entity within BAI, and its existing operations and customer partnerships will remain unaffected.
