ABB has agreed to acquire Irish company Cylon Controls to increase its presence in the smart building segment, the company said in a release.
The acquisition enhances ABB Electrification business? position in the commercial buildings segment, according to ABB. Terms of the deal, including purchase price, were not disclosed.
Dublin-headquartered Cylon, which has approximately 100 employees, provides building automation and HVAC control solutions, delivering operational efficiency, energy and comfort solutions for commercial and retail buildings, schools and healthcare facilities.

In November last year, ABB?launched its new IoT Dashboard to improve usability and reduce maintenance in smart buildings.
The European tech firm highlighted that the IoT dashboard allowed for stronger control, monitoring and automation of all building functions, from dimming and switching of lights to controlling blinds, heating and ventilation.
ABB?s IoT dashboard is easy to use, giving electrical installers with no pre-knowledge of dashboards or visualization a simple route into smart building dashboard solutions, the company said.
ABB?s smart building portfolio includes solutions for home and buildings automation, energy distribution, energy management and property safety.
