Partnerships: Qualcomm partners on power; Comviva teams with Airtel Bangladesh; and more

Qualcomm Inc. signed a non-binding letter of intent with Powermat to explore the possibilities of developing wireless power solutions. The two companies said they will investigate the convergence of tightly and loosely coupled wireless power technologies to deliver a flexible coupling wireless power solution; work together to build an industry alliance that supports flexible coupling-based wireless power; investigate the development of dual-mode receiver ASICs that work with Qualcomm’s WiPower technology; and have Powermat offer a single-mode wireless power solution based on Qualcomm’s WiPower technology that will supplement the current Powermat product line. Qualcomm also signed a letter of intent with Duracell to explore the possibility of forming an industry alliance that supports and promotes flexible coupling-based wireless power solutions.
Comviva said it entered a strategic partnership with Airtel Bangladesh to provide messaging solutions under its Unstructured Supplementary Service Data, Short Message Service Center, and Bulk Messaging Gateway portfolio.
Opera Software announced support for the ViXS platform, which allows applications built with Web technology and standard cloud-based applications to be implemented on ViXS-powered devices.
Clarity said it completed Phase 2 of its Network Operations Centre implementation at Globe Telecom. The result is a fully integrated NOC for both its fixed line and wireless businesses and ensures network changes are managed effectively, said the companies.
Claro Brazil, a division of America Movil, launched its Claro Messenger mobile instant messaging service powered by Syncrhonica’s hosted IMPOS platform. The solution is scheduled to be deployed in all 17 of America Movil’s subsidiaries. Claro Brazil also announced it selected Gemalto to deploy a software solution that optimizes network capacity and reduces logistics costs.
