This week’s CCA Mobile Carriers Show comes on the heels of the FirstNet contract, end of the FCC 600 MHz incentive auction.
The Competitive Carriers Association is set to host its second annual Mobile Carriers Show in Las Vegas, building on the rebranding of its spring event that began last year in Nashville, Tennessee.
The show, which is set to run from April 4-7 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, looks set to again balance the regulatory, operational and competitive issues on the minds of CCA members with the growing mobile telecommunications ecosystem surrounding new technologies and business opportunities.
Keynotes are set to be headlined by executives from Ericsson and Cisco Systems, which are likely to target the new operational and business opportunities available to CCA members from updating current network technologies as well as tapping into new platforms based on “5G” and the internet of things.
A panel discussion focused on the challenges and opportunities in bringing wireless broadband (both fixed and mobile) to rural areas is set to be hosted by Iain Gillott from iGR, and include representatives from Sprint, Nokia, Huawei and Interop Technologies. Topics are set to include the potential use of millimeter wave spectrum bands, and how CCA members can tap into growing consumer demand for entertainment and video services.
Another new potential market opportunity could come from a keynote address by Michael Poth, CEO of the First Responder Network Authority, which recently announced AT&T as its carrier partner to help with the build out of the FirstNet nationwide public safety broadband network. FirstNet in the past has attended CCA events in an attempt to drum up support from organization members to help with providing blanket broadband coverage to public safety agencies.
CCA is also set to host a number of conference seminars and breakout sessions targeting network and IoT security; sales channels; raising capital; voice over Wi-Fi and voice over LTE; 5G deployment models; and a number of regulatory focused sessions looking at how the recent change in administration and leadership at the Federal Communications Commission is set to impact CCA members. Speakers for these sessions include representatives from carriers, vendors and the FCC.
