Equipment provisioning, network maintenance, CVM and more covered by managed services agreement
Swedish vendor Ericsson and Oman mobile operator Omantel have signed a four-year managed services contract in which Ericsson will operate and maintain Omantel’s network as the sole managed services supplier.
The Arab telco has also selected Ericsson to provide its real-time customer value management (CVM) service. The CVM service will allow Omantel to deliver targeted, personalized campaigns with advanced capabilities focused on enriching customer experiences and driving cognitive marketing. The CVM campaign management service will assist Omantel in improving revenues, reducing churn and enhancing campaign effectiveness.
“This agreement with Ericsson comes as a part of our objective to deploy new digital smart home, innovative business and e-government services throughout 2016 and beyond,” Omantel’s CEO Talal Al Mamari said. “Our strategy positions Omantel as the digital partner of choice, and the increased level of collaboration with Ericsson signals our accelerated approach toward network investment, enhancement and upgrades across the Sultanate, both for retail consumers and corporate clients,” he added.
“With the deployment of Ericsson’s customer value management services, together with a long-term managed services partnership, Omantel will be able to enhance network and services capabilities,” Ericsson’s VP and Head of Managed Services Jean-Claude Geha said.
T-Mobile Czech Republic launches LTE-A in 58 additional cities
In other EMEA news, Czech mobile operator T-Mobile said LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) technology is now available in 58 additional towns and cities across the country, with a combined population of 350,000 people. The telco also said that its total number of LTE-A base stations should reach approximately 1,000 by the end of 2016. The new zones which can now enjoy T-Mobile’s LTE-A technology are in the regions of Domazlice, Jindrichuv Hradec, Klatovy, Pisek, Plzen, Pribram, Rakovnik, Rokycany, Strakonice and Tabor.
The base stations in these districts use carrier aggregation (CA) in the 800MHz and 2.1GHz bands, enabling download speeds of 150Mbps.
T-Mobile was the first operator in the Czech Republic to launch commercial LTE-A in July 2014 by aggregating spectrum in the 800MHz and 1800MHz bands. The 800MHz/1800MHz LTE-A technology is currently supported by 16 handsets.
T-Mobile Czech Republic is fully owned by German telecoms group Deutsche Telekom. The telco ended last year with over 6 million mobile subscribers.
