LAS VEGAS – Epson unveiled three new products in its Active line at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show. The devices include the Runsense, Pulsense and M-Tracer.
The Runsense wearable uses GPS to track distance and pace, as well as provides a heart monitor. The device also features a built-in sensor that is designed to learn a users running technique and calibrates their stride while they run. Epson also announced that it has sponsored Boston Marathon winner Meb Keflezighi, also an Olympic medalist, who will wear the Runsense in the 2015 Boston Marathon.
Epson is also using star power to promote the M-Tracer, a personal swing analyzer designed to help users improve their golf game. The device fits on a golf club and stores everything from clubhead speed to attack angle. The M-Tracer app also allows users to view their swing in 3D. The product is being promoted with the help of golf instructor, David Leadbetter.
Epson Active also unveiled the Pulsense. The wearable tracks heart rate, sleep and workout intensity.
Second-generation smart glasses
Epson also unveiled the second generation of its Moverio BT-200 smart glasses, which now come with more sensors and technology. This year Epson was focused on applications for glasses, which include 3D rendering capabilities and games for consumers.
