Anite today introduced its latest benchmarking system for mobile networks and devices, which includes quality-of-service and quality-of-experience testing and covers Long Term Evolution, LTE-Advanced, Cat 6 and Voice over LTE technologies for smartphones.
Nemo Invex II for drive testing and device assessment is designed for benchmarking use by mobile operators and infrastructure vendors as well as certification labs and regulatory organizations. Anite said that better power efficiency and thermal design for the system results in less power usage per test device, as well as “longer, uninterrupted and therefore more reliable measurements.”

Anite said that the system can be used to benchmark multiple technologies during one drive test and will support simultaneous testing for up to 50 devices and three scanning receivers. It supports devices with Category 6 speeds, or downloads up to 300 Mbps, which are beginning to arrive on the market. Anite announced earlier this year that it could support Cat 6 and carrier aggregation on its Nemo Outdoor laptop-based testing system, and has also been exploring testing related to three-component-carrier Carrier Aggregation (CA).
Anite noted that it reduced the cabling on the new Invex system in order to make the equipment easy to install in vehicles, as well as offering high-power USB ports that enable batteries to be charged during long test drives. The system has wireless connectivity to its management PC.
“Our customers are now able to improve their benchmarking processes as well as save costs. With Nemo Invex II, they will be able to benchmark the latest mobile broadband technologies and devices all in one test drive,” said Jussi Lemiläinen, who is VP of Product Management and Business Development at Anite’s Network Testing business, in a statement. “The increasing complexity of mobile networks requires more from the test equipment,” he added, noting that capacity, energy use and usability are important factors for test tools.
Anite will be spotlighting the new system at the LTE Africa conference in Cape Town this week, as well as at the upcoming LTE Americas show in Dallas.
