Partnerships: SingTel chooses JDSU for LTE trials; and more

JDSU said it has been chosen by Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. to serve as its independent test consultant for SingTel Group’s regional LTE trials in Singapore, Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines. JDSU will define test cases and methodologies, and it will use its Signaling Analyzer Real Time and Drive Test products to measure LTE equipment performance.
Telefonica SA chose Syniverse Technologies to be the exclusive provider of roaming business management services for 11 of its properties in Latin America. Syniverse said it will work with the operators to speed up the implementation of roaming agreements to decrease roaming time to market.
Firethorn Holdings L.L.C. said it has been chosen by the Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union to provide its mobile banking service to PSECU’s 370,000 members. The service allows customers to view their account balances, access transaction histories, transfer funds and pay bills. Firethorn also announced a deal with The Wet Seal Inc., a womens clothing and accessories retailer, to provide its SWAGG mobile application. SWAGG is a direct-to-consumer offering that allows customers to make purchases directly from their mobile device.
Alltel Wireless will use Movius Interactive Corp.‘s Versera Intelligent Communications Environment to provide voice-messaging services to its subscribers. Alltel will be able to provide services such as MessageMe visual voicemail and My Services online subscriber portal as well as third-party applications like voice-to-text.
Widevine said it signed a global agreement with LG Electronics to distribute Widevine’s live and on-demand adaptive streaming, virtual DVD controls and digital rights management on LG connected products. The agreement expands on a previous agreement that put the Widevine products on 2009 models of LG Blu-ray players and home theater systems. The new agreement expands the the deployment to different LG devices.
Intrado Inc. announced an agreement with one2many to enable Commercial Mobile Alert System messages to wireless service providers in the United States. The new Cell Broadcast Service will help carriers fulfill requirements outlined by the FCC’s WARN Act. Deployments are scheduled to begin early next year.
Tyfone said its mobile banking platform has been implemented by Orange County’s Credit Union. The company said about 3% of the credit union’s member base signed up for the service within the first two weeks of the service launch.
LG-Ericsson selected Azimuth Systems Inc. to provide its ACE MX MIMO channel emulator for testing of its LTE eNodeB base station products. The LG Ericsson design team will use the product mainly for interoperability testing.
Huawei selected Spirent Communications to provide its 8100 system for testing HSPA+ data cards.
SPATCH said it is collaborating with CellCast Technologies L.L.C. to offer a cell broadcast solution for rural and independent carriers to comply with the FCC’s Commercial Mobile Alert System rules. SPATCH has developed a proprietary Cell Broadcast Center with a CMSP Gateway capability for rural CDMA carriers. The company is working with CellCast to offer a CMAS solution for rural GSM carriers.
O3b Networks signed a deal with Netcom in Nigeria to provide high-capacity broadband connectivity to ships and offshore platforms using the company’s Medium Earth Orbit technology.
Alltel Wireless has chosen Convergys to provide an end-to-end BSS solution that includes service activation, customer service, rating and billing, charging and mediation capabilities. The solution will replace Alltel’s in-house legacy system.
