Capital Markets: Accedian raises $19.5M; quarterly earnings; and more

Accedian Networks, which provides service assurance solutions said it secured $19.5 million in a new round of funding. The round was led by Summit Partners and included participation from Rho Ventures and Skypoint Capital. The funds will be used to accelerate the company’s commercial efforts and support its global market share expansion.
Mobile payment company Payphone said it closed an $11 million series B funding round. Opus Capital, BlackBerry Partners Fund and RRE Ventures participated in the financing. The company said it will use the funding to scale its presence in EMEA, Latin America and Asia.
Envivio said it raised $15 million in a mezzanine investment from venture capital and banking sources. The company said the financing will allow it to extend its position in the Video over IP market.
CSR plc announced it acquired APT Licensing Ltd. after a three-year collaboration between the two companies. The deal allows for integration of APT’s apt-X low latency audio compression CODECs with CSR’s next-generation audio products. CSR said the deal also strengthens its presence in the real-time streaming market for mobile and wireless consumer applications.
Leap Wireless reported revenues of $633.5 million for the second quarter, up 6% from revenues of $597.4 million reported during last year’s second quarter. Net loss for the quarter was $19.3 million, or 24 cents per share, compared with net loss of $61.2 million, or 89 cents per share, during the corresponding period a year ago.
Motorola Inc. (MOT) said its revenues totaled $5.4 billion during the second quarter, compared with revenues of $5.5 billion during last year’s second quarter. Net income was $162 million, or 7 cents per share, compared with net income of $26 million, or 1 cent per share, reported during the same quarter last year.
Alvarion (ALVR) reported revenues of $49 million for the second quarter, compared with revenues of $58.7 million during the same period last year. Net loss was $15.5 million, or 25 cents per share, compared with net loss of $4.9 million, or 8 cents per share, during last year’s second quarter.
Telular (WRLS) reported revenues of $11 million and net income of $960,000, or 6 cents per share, for its third quarter, which ended June 30. This compares with revenues of $12.4 million and net income of $39,000, or 3 cents per share reported during the same period last year.
Verisign (VRSN) said its revenues for the second quarter totaled $169 million, up 9% from revenues of $154 million during the same period last year. Net income was $36.4 million, or 19 cents per share, compared with net income of $35.8 million, or 18 cents per share, for the corresponding quarter last year.
USA Mobility (USMO) reported revenues of $59.1 million, down from revenue of $75.1 million during the corresponding quarter last year. Net income was $13.1 million, or 58 cents per share, compared with net income of $44.7 million, or $1.93 per share, during the second quarter of last year. In addition, the company’s board of directors declared a regular quarterly cash distribution of 25 cents per share, payable Sept. 10 to shareholders of record on August 19.
WPCS International Inc. (WPCS) reported revenue of $29.2 million for the fourth fiscal quarter of 2010, which ended April 30. That is up 18% from revenue of $24.7 million reported during the same period last year. Net loss for the quarter was $77,433, or breakeven per share, compared with net income of $266,601, or 4 cents per share, for the same quarter a year ago.
CommScope (CTV) reported net sales of $838 million, up 7 percent from revenues of $783.7 million during last year’s second quarter. Net income was $44 million, or 43 cents per share, compared with net income of $15.4 million, or 19 cents per share, for the same quarter last year.
Crown Castle International (CCI) reported net revenues of $456.1 million, up from revenues of $409.9 million reported during the same period last year. Net loss for the quarter was $97.6 million, or 36 cents per share, compared with net loss of $111.8 million, or 41 cents per share, during last year’s second quarter.
InterDigital (IDCC) reported net income for the second quarter of $35 million, or 78 cents per share, compared with net income of $26.4 million, or 60 cents per share, during last year’s second quarter. Revenues for the quarter were $91.2 million, up from revenues of $74.9 million during the same period last year.
American Tower (AMT) said its revenues increased 11% to $469.9 million from $423.4 million reported during last year’s second quarter. Net income for the quarter was $99.8 million, or 25 cents per share, compared with net income of $56.5 million, or 14 cents per share, during the same period last year.
Glu Mobile (GLUU) reported revenues of $16 million during the second quarter, down from revenues of $19.9 million during the second quarter of 2009. Net loss for the quarter was $3.2 million, or 10 cents per share, compared with net loss of $1.5 million, or 5 cents per share, during last year’s second quarter.
Novatel Wireless (NVTL) reported revenue of $71.8 million during the second quarter, down from revenues of $84.1 million during last year’s second quarter. Net loss for the quarter was $22.8 million, or 73 cents per share, compared with net loss of $800,000, or 3 cents per share, a year ago.
Powerwave Technologies (PWAV) said its sales for the second quarter were $144.6 million, up from revenues of $136.1 million during last year’s second quarter. Net income for the quarter was $200,000, or breakeven per share, compared with net income of $2.6 million, or 2 cents per share, during last year’s second quarter.
SBA Communications (SBAC) reported revenues of $154.5 million for the second quarter, compared with revenues of $136.2 million during last year’s second quarter. Net loss for the quarter was$83.9 million, or 72 cents per share, compared with net loss of $29.4 million, or 25 cents per share, for the same period last year.
Sierra Wirelss (SWIR) said its revenues for the second quarter were $159.1 million, up 18% from revenues of $135.3 million during last year’s second quarter. Net loss for the quarter was $8.6 million, or 28 cents per share, compared with net loss of $6.5 million, or 19 cents per share, during the corresponding period a year ago.
Superconductor Technologies (SCON) reported second-quarter revenues of $2.4 million, down from revenues of $3.4 million during last year’s second quarter. Net loss for the quarter was $3.1 million, or 14 cents per share, compared with net loss of $4.1 million, or 23 cents per share, during the same period last year.
Syniverse Holdings (SVR) said its second-quarter revenues were $158.8 million, up nearly 40% from revenues of $40.9 million during last year’s second quarter. Net income was$22.3 million, or 32 cents per share, compared with net income of $16.5 million, or 24 cents per share, during the corresponding period last year.
TeleCommunication Systems (TSYS) said its revenues for the second quarter were $92.7 million, up from $67.1 million during the same period last year. Net income was $3.1 million, or 6 cents per share, compared with income of $6.6 million, or 13 cents per share, during last year’s second quarter.
