ROCHESTER, N.Y.-Eastman Kodak Co. and Nikon Corp. separately announced new digital cameras that will include built-in Wi-Fi modems. The companies said such devices will allow users to more easily upload their pictures to their computers or the Internet, through either home Wi-Fi networks or public hot spots.
“The Kodak Easyshare-One camera does more than just incorporate basic Wi-Fi functionality. It combines Kodak’s signature ease-of-use with groundbreaking technology to give people a single, innovative device for sharing, taking, organizing, and printing pictures,” said Mary Hadley, general manager of digital cameras for Kodak.
Kodak said it is working with various hot-spot carriers, including T-Mobile USA Inc., to provide service for its devices. Nikon positioned its cameras as being able to connect instantly with Wi-Fi-capable printers.
Nikon’s cameras will sell for $550 and $400, and Kodak’s will sell for $600.
