RateXchange readies for online bandwidth auction

SAN FRANCISCO-Rate-Xchange Corp. said it will conduct its first online CustomAuction to buy and sell telecommunications bandwidth.

The auction is being conducted for a carrier selling a wavelength of bandwidth between London; Frankfurt, Germany; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Paris and Brussels, Belgium.

“This is significant not only for RateXchange, but for the entire telecommunications industry,” said Donald Sledge, chairman and chief executive officer of RateXchange. “The participation of a company with the size and extensive reach of this carrier validates to the industry that the buying and selling of bandwidth through an anonymous, online exchange reduces costs and boosts efficiency, and marks a fundamental change in the way companies trade telecom capacity.”

Auction details can be attained from RateXchange’s Web site at www.rate-xchange.com.
