WASHINGTON-The Federal Communications Commission announced $2.25 billion will be available this year for discounted Internet connections at schools and libraries (known as the E-rate) across the country. About $186 million in funding commitment letters were sent out last week. It is the third year of the program that is mandated as part of the Telecommunications Act of 1996.
