Newbridge expects to report record revenues

KANATA, Ontario-Newbridge Networks said it expects to achieve record revenue for the fiscal fourth quarter ending April 30, due largely to the company’s core broadband switches and access products.

Highlights of the fourth quarter have included BT Belgium’s selection of Newbridge as the supplier of its broadband wireless access solution for a nationwide network rollout in Belgium.

Hanaro Telecom Inc. in Korea also selected Newbridge to supply local multipoint distribution services equipment for Hanaro’s first year of broadband services, and AT&T Canada selected Newbridge to provide equipment for its nationwide digital subscriber line-enabled network.

The consensus profit estimate from 20 brokers polled by IBES forecasting service was 17 cents per share for the quarter.

Newbridge announced its $7.1 billion sale to France’s Alcatel in February.
