GTE Mobilnet named two new general managers in its florida region. Doug Meyn manages the north area of the state, while Jane Clements manages the south area. Each of the general managers is responsible for sales distribution and service in their repecttive areas, including direct sales, agents, retail and major accounts.
Most recently, Meyn was general manager of the region’s south area. He previously served in a variety of sales positions with GTE Telephone Operations. Clements has been with various GTE business units since 1985, most recently as human resources manager for GTE Mobilnet, handling the Florida region.
Arch Communications Group Inc. announced that two senior managers have been promoted to the position of president in two of the company’s units. Anton N. Battaglia was named president of Arch’s Northeast operations, which comprise Page New England and Page New York. Battaglia joined Arch in 1986 as corporate controller and most recently held the position of general manager of Page New England.
William T. Watson was named president of Arch’s Midwest operations, which include Page Michigan and will include the Illinois and Wisconsin operations of Becker Beepers Inc., expected to be acquired by Arch later this year, according to the company. Watson previously held senior operating and marketing positions in the cable television industry.
Arch said it has more than 400,000 subscriber units with operations in the Northeast, Southeast and Midwest.
CelluLink welcomes Dave Hendrickson as district manager for its sales and service operations in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Hendrickson was most recently a marketing representative for Federated Insurance Co. and previously vice president of D&N Bank.
CelluLink also named Steve Wirtz agent sales manager for Eastern Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Wirtz will provide sales management and support to more than 75 dealers throughout the region who sell CelluLink products and service. Before joining the company, Wirtz was president and owner of M.E.D. Communications.
Go Communications Corp., formerly Columbia PCS Inc., has expanded its management team to include four director appointments. Michaela Barnes, named director of marketing, brings 10 years telecommunications experience to the company, including her most recent position as director of market planning and analysis for Concert Communications Corp., a global joint venture between British Telecom and MCI Communications Corp. She held a number of senior offices at MCI.
Jill M. Foehrkolb has been appointed director of legal affairs for Go. She will be responsible for corporate legal matters, including securities law and contract negotiation. She most recently served as senior attorney with MCI and previously specialized in communications law with Skadden, Arps, and Slate, Meagher & Flom.
David Snyder is the new director of network design, in charge of transmission system engineering and base station planning. Snyder joins Go from LCC, Inc., where he worked as a senior engineering consultant. Previously, he worked for the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command in various management and engineering roles.
James S. Warner has been named director of operations support systems. Prior to joining Go, Warner spent 12 years with Digital Equipment Corp., the last five years as a senior consultant.
