AT&T and Cisco have signed a new, multi-year agreement that expands their collaboration around enterprise IoT device management, with an AT&T Control Center powered by Cisco offering that they say enables “near real-time visibility” of all devices on a business’ network.
The two companies already manage millions of connected devices across manufacturing, utilities, transportation, public sector, retail and healthcare industries. They also cater to public safety with FirstNet-certified IoT solutions and Cisco routers.
“We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Cisco with a new multi-year agreement,” said Robert Boyanovksy, vice president of IoT and mobility at AT&T Business. “Together we can help businesses deploy IoT devices and applications faster and more securely and get more value out of devices they use.”
AT&T and Cisco noted that they have worked together for more than a decade to manage services for U.S. enterprises through the AT&T Global SIM for international roaming, which provides IoT connectivity in more than 200 countries and territories. They said that they are working on bringing new solutions to market in Low Power Wide Area Networking (LPWAN) and 5G.
The two companies specifically said that they are working on making it easier for customers to manage IoT connectivity through advanced features in the AT&T Control Center that will help “mitigate security risks, identify anomalies in data usage as well as optimize traffic classification reporting to enhance billing clarity.”
The partners cited a number of IoT use cases that they can support, including managing connectivity and data consumption for millions of new connected cars that have to travel internationally from manufacturer to consumer, and large-scale smart metering and sensors for water supply safety.
