The networking firm said its developer program DevNet offers a new set of developer tools for IoT
Cisco has launched new internet of things networking products, developer tools, validated design guides and partner specializations to increase flexibility and security for IoT environments, the company said in a statement.
Cisco has launched new catalyst industrial switches and industrial integrated services routers for IoT environments. These new switches are powered by IOE XE. The new platforms are managed by Cisco DNA Center.
Cisco also said that its developer program, DevNet, features a new set of developer tools to enable customers and partners to “unleash innovation at the IoT edge.” The new IoT Developer Center includes learning materials, developer tools and support resources so partners can start building solutions and applications quickly.
Cisco said that it has created three new “Cisco Validated Designs” by working with industry partners, and those designs enable customers and partners to rapidly move from proofs of concept to scaled deployments.
Cisco also said it is building a global ecosystem of IoT partners by providing IoT training and specialization programs. The company added that it has an ecosystem of industry partners, ISVs, machine builders and service providers to deliver IoT projects for customers in areas including manufacturing, transportation, energy, retail and the public sector.

“We closely collaborated with Cisco on Cisco’s new compact, low-power industrial router to meet the stringent environmental and safety standards used in the utilities industry,” said Didier Hinguant, telecom director for European energy provider Enedis. “We operate and deploy our connected grid with thousands of Cisco routers via Field Network Director zero touch provisioning, with an agile, highly secure and future proof network using IPv6 to address our scalability constraints.”
