Red Hat, Mycom OSI to bring automated assurance to telco cloud

Red Hat and Mycom OSI announce partnership

Red Hat and Mycom OSI recently announced they are joining forces as part of an initiative to provide automated assurance across hybrid network functions virtualization (NFV) networks. The collaboration could help MyCom OSI boosts its presence in the telco cloud market.

Mycom OSI is a management, automation and analytics provider to tier-1 communication service providers (CSPs) like AT&T, Deutsche Telekom, Sprint, STC, Telefónica, Telenor, T-Mobile, Verizon and Vodafone. Under the partnership, OSI’s cloud-native Experience Assurance and Analytics (EAA) will be deployed on Red Hat OpenStack Platform and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform.

Mycom OSI says its EEA is intended to address three strategic initiatives of CSPs: managing the customer experience, evolving to network functions virtualization (NFV) and exploiting the digital/IoT ecosystem. It includes assurance-driven closed loop network automation, which directs configuration management, in physical networks, to make changes to optimize end-to-end network and service quality, according to the company.

“Telco clouds are a key enabler to unlocking on-demand, real time consumer and enterprise digital services such as SD-WAN and IoT opportunities for CSPs, and our recent innovations in telco cloud assurance have resulted in rapid growth in customer projects,” said Mounir Ladki, president and CTO at Mycom OSI. “Red Hat not only helps us to deliver agility, speed and cost benefits to our customers, but also a rich stream of essential telco cloud data that feeds our analytics engine. We are delighted to have such a strong collaboration with Red Hat.”

Mycom OSI’s EAA also discovers, monitors and correlates vertical layers in NFV/SDN telco cloud, including hardware, cloud platforms, NVFI, VFN and service chains. The company noted that based on Red Hat technology, the solution can help reduce the time of system deployment by more than 75% in comparison to traditional assurance systems.

“As the telco industry moves towards cloudification of networks to increase innovation, agility and scalability, service quality and performance are top of mind for telco leaders,” said Darrell Jordan-Smith, vice president of Global Telecommunications and ICT at Red Hat. “We are pleased to underpin MYCOM OSI’s assurance and analytics solution with Red Hat’s highly scalable hybrid cloud and container-based technologies. Together, we are setting out to help operators better understand and act on the performance of their networks as they deliver on their network virtualization strategies.”
