The Hong Kong-based carrier said customers will have access to the new solution by mid-2017
CK Hutchison’s 3 Group has selected Cisco Jasper’s connectivity management platform to expand its global IoT offering.
From mid-2017, the Hong Kong-based telco’s enterprise customers will have access to Cisco Jasper’s Control Center solution.
The partnership will enable 3 Group customers to access Cisco Jasper’s Control Centre through 3’s national networks, while global customers can gain access through Hue, a CK Hutchison unit providing customized MVNE and IoT services.
“This partnership will put 3 at the heart of the global IoT marketplace and offers huge potential to our enterprise customers,” said Hue CEO Jarrod Nink. “Through our global footprint of high-speed mobile networks built for mobile data, and Cisco Jasper’s powerful platform, our customers will enjoy an edge in the IoT market for years to come.”
3 said it sees opportunities in the connected car, building security and automation, and transportation and logistics sectors.
“Innovative enterprises in every industry are already utilizing Control Center today to enhance their customers’ IoT experiences and generate new, ongoing revenue sources,” said Kalle Ward, managing director, EMEAR, IoT cloud at Cisco Jasper.
Cisco Jasper’s Control Centre for IoT now supports more than 9,000 enterprises worldwide.
Telia Estonia adds Sigfox’s IoT technology
In related IoT news, mobile carrier Telia Estonia added French IoT firm Sigfox’s low-power Internet of Things (IoT) technology to its IoT offering.
The European telco has inked an agreement with Connected Baltics OÜ, Sigfox’s exclusive network partner for Estonia, which paves the way for it to use Sigfox to connect hundreds of thousands of devices.
“Telia’s goal is to create the best solutions for the customer, and Sigfox’s technology provides us with an exciting tool to do just that,” said Toomas Kärner, Telia Estonia’s IoT area manager.
“We would like to help our business customers succeed in their business and develop great services for residential customers,” he said.
Sigfox’s IoT network is present in over 30 countries and on track to cover 60 by 2018, covering a population of 486 million people.
