The U.S. firm said the integrated platform will enable the provision of interoperable IoT solutions

U.S. provider of micro electrical mechanical systems (MEMS) sensor platform solutions InvenSense, has integrated its SensorStudio tool into the Samsung ARTIK 710 internet of things platform.

SensorStudio is a graphical software development tool created by InvenSense to ease the development and programming of sensors and algorithms. The integrated SAMSUNG ARTIK Smart IoT platform enables the provision of secure, interoperable connected products and services.

InvenSense reps said SensorStudio and the InvenSense FireFly ICM-30670 Development Kit are already compatible with the SAMSUNG ARTIK end-to-end platform.

“We are listening to the growing InvenSense developers community, and are enabling them to realize the distributed computing architecture required to achieve optimized successful IoT products,” said Herve Blanc, Product Marketing Director, InvenSense. “SensorStudio is fast gaining traction with industry leaders such as the SAMSUNG ARTIK IoT platform in assisting developers without specialized IoT skills to work quickly, and with greater productivity.”

InvenSense’s motion tracking, audio and location platforms, and services can be found in mobile, wearables, smart home, industrial, automotive, and IoT products. InvenSense is headquartered in San Jose, California and has offices worldwide.

Gemalto launches LTE Cat M1 module for IoT solutions

In related news, Dutch digital security solutions provider Gemalto has launched a LTE Category M1wireless module for internet of things solutions.

The new Cinterion module delivers LTE for Machine-Type-Communication (MTC) and improved power savings that enables battery life of more than 10 years, for some use cases.

Gemalto said that the new module is ideal for use cases not dependent on speed, but rather requiring network longevity and improved indoor coverage such as asset trackers, healthcare solutions, smart meters and industrial sensors.

Gemalto also said that the new wireless module is the first IoT-specific solution based on a dedicated LTE Cat. M1 chipset. The solution operates on LTE spectrum and is capable of supporting more than 10 frequency bands from a single hardware device. The Dutch company said that the new module will be able to run LTE NB-IoT protocols in the future.

Development samples are available immediately before debuting on the Verizon 4G LTE Cat M1 network in early 2017, which is scheduled to achieve nationwide U.S. coverage by the end of the first quarter of 2017, Gemalto said.
