The Chinese company also inked a deal with NCS and Tyco to create smart city solutions
Chinese telecommunications services provider Huawei has officially opened its Southern Pacific OpenLab in Singapore to foster ICT innovation.
The lab is an open end-to-end ICT Infrastructure platform where partners can verify their solutions in actual network environment, leverage on training opportunities in research, marketing and solutions delivery, and use marketing funds to develop and incentivize channel partners. Visitors to lab will also be able to experience solutions for smart cities, public safety, ISP, Education, Banking, and Transportation.
The newly-launched lab will be connected to a network of Huawei OpenLabs across the globe to facilitate the international exchange of ideas about new business models, market needs, and technical solutions, the Chinese vendor said.
“The establishment of Huawei’s Southern Pacific OpenLab will catalyze partnerships with leading enterprises, start-ups and research institutions for the development of digital enterprise solutions, with Singapore as a reference market,” said Meng Fai Tung, deputy director of the Singapore Economic Development Board.
“This will support Singapore’s Smart Nation vision and ensure our industries are at the forefront of the digital transformation wave,” Tung said.
Huawei also signed a Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with NCS, a subsidiary of local telecom operator Singtel Group, and global security systems leader Tyco to jointly create safe city solutions for smart nation projects in Singapore.
At the opening ceremony, the Chinese company unveiled its suite of Safe City solutions, which strengthens incident prevention capabilities and shortens emergency response time.
Huawei claims its safe city solutions have been deployed in more than 100 cities across 30 countries.
Acer Communications, Chunghwa Telecom launch smart mobile office solutions in Taiwan
In other APAC news, Acer Communications and Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) have jointly launched smart mobile office solutions for the Taiwan market, Digitimes reports.
The smart mobile office solutions are based on Acer’s abPBX switch systems paired with CHT’s 4G and fiber-optic networks.
The Taiwanese telco will also offer enterprise mobile management solutions as well as unified threat management (UTM) security solutions along with the smart mobile office solutions.
CHT said that there are a total of 400,000-500,000 enterprise-users of PBX systems in Taiwan currently, and replacement demand for PBX systems could reach 100,000 units a year.
