Gogo Inc. said today that it will begin rolling out Wi-Fi service on Air Canada’s entire North American fleet next month.
The airline already has two Wi-Fi equipped aircraft, Airbus 319 models, which are operating in Canada and the U.S. Gogo expects to outfit an additional 29 aircraft this year and another 130 narrow-body aircraft targeted to be completed by December of 2015.
The Airbus A319, A 320 and A321 narrow-body planes, Embraer 190 and 175, and Air Canada Express CRJ-705 aircraft will received Gogo’s air-to-ground (ATG) and ATG-4 technologies.
Gogo expanded its ATG network to Canada earlier this year in order to serve flights in that country as well as flights between the U.S. and Canada. Last month, the company’s first international Wi-Fi service for Delta went live on the airline’s longhaul aircraft.
The agreement between the airline and Gogo also includes future trials of Gogo’s satellite solutions to provide Wi-Fi on international flights, to take place next year. In those cases, the installations would involve Gogo’s 2Ku and Global Xpress satellite technologies.
