This week, Cisco released a new version of its unified communications manager and Minerva unveiled a multi-screen interface for smartphone and tablet users. In addition, SwitchRay Inc. announced a new partnership with Brightlink Communications for licensing its Class 4 Softswitch technology. Tollgrade also launched the first in-home broadband testing software, and WeDo Technologies announced overall revenue growth.
Cisco Unified Communications Manager Version 10.0
On March 19, Cisco released the latest version of its Unified Communications Manager, which provides a software platform for voice, video, messaging, mobility and presence capabilities for business clients. The new software solution can be utilized on Cisco devices or other third-party hardware and adds to the features seen on previous versions. Added characteristics include improvements to simplify the installation, upgrading and migration process, as well as a new remote access feature to allow users to connect with the system without a VPN. Version 10.0 can also support the efficient utilization of videoconferencing resources through enhanced network bandwidth management.
Minerva Networks Entertainment Interface
On March 20, Minerva Networks unveiled a new multi-screen entertainment interface that enables mobile device users to connect with DVR services and have personal video recording program playback on their smartphones and tablets. The new interface is one of the most innovative multi-screen platforms for TV networks and can be leveraged on both iOS and Android hardware. With this software, users can watch previously aired programs, record new shows and play back their recordings.
SwitchRay Class 4 Softswitch Solution
Also on March 20, SwitchRay Inc. publicized its three-year agreement with Brightlink Communications for the licensing of its SR-S4500 Class 4 softswitch. The partnership also included the implementation of 70,000 SR-S4500 licenses in Brightlink's network platform. Brightlink president Lance Weller said supporting SwithRay's new software offering is key for the company's success.
"The SR-S4500 provides the precise combination of features, flexibility and reliability that allows us to operate at the highest level for our customers," Weller said. "We continue to be extremely pleased with how well the SwitchRay SR-S4500 Class 4 Solution performs and how seamlessly the product integrated into our network."
Tollgrade VBT Manager
On March 18, Tollgrade Communications. Inc. released its VBT Manager software application to be used on the company's VBT handheld broadband service provider testing tool. The system can recognize and resolve any issues experiences by customers on their premises. The software, which can be run through a laptop, will help service providers prevent costly repeat visits to clients' homes. Tollgrade's application enables these employees to perform tests in the field, store the results and measure compliance for repairs.
WeDo Technologies revenue growth
WeDo Technologies announced considerable revenue growth on March 20, noting that the company saw a 12 percent increase last year, making 2013 the organization's most successful year yet. WeDo was also named market share leader in Revenue Assurance and Fraud Management solutions for telecom operators last year.
