Texas Instruments, Plus One, Extreme Networks welcome new employees

A number of telecommunications and technology companies underwent employment changes this month, including Syniverse, Lantiq and Extreme Networks. Texas Instruments also named a new VP, a new head of education technology and bid goodbye to a retiring individual.

TI company recently appointed Kim Wong as VP of Signal and Datapath Solutions. In this position, Wong will oversee the organization’s strategic business advancement efforts, and manage profits and losses, product development and research.

TI also named Peter Balyta, as the president of Education Technology, the group’s calculator department. Balyta was appointed to the position following the retirement of the former president, Melendy Lovett, who held the title for the past 10 years. Rich Templeton, company chairman, president and CEO, said Lovett left the division in a favorable market share position and thanked her for her work and that of her team.

Plus One welcomes new communications analyst
Earlier this month, Plus One welcomed Robert Mardis as a communications analyst. In his role, Mardis will be part of a team in charge of developing and deploying marketing and communications business strategies for Plus One clients. Mardis previously assisted the company with consultations on several projects.

“Over the past few years we have seen the value he brings to our clients and look forward to continued growth in 2014,” Plus One president Tanya Sullivan said.

Extreme Networks names VP and CTO
Networking solutions provider Extreme Networks recently appointed Eric Brookman as its new VP and CTO, who will operate out of the business’ California headquarters. Brookman has held several CEO and GM roles during the past two decades. Brookman will head research and development and business practices, including those related to network products, wireless solutions, networking software and other areas.

Brookman said the industry is currently undergoing considerable innovation due to emerging technology inflection points.

“Extreme Networks is well positioned to capitalize on these market shifts within high-impact segments for switching, high-performance Wi-Fi access, data center, security, software products, SDN and network visibility and management,” Brookman said.

Lantiq appoints new executive
Software and chip vendor Lantiq recently announced the addition of Bill McDonald as director of business development. David Boikess, Lantiq SVP of global sales, said McDonald’s industry experience and knowledge of telecommunications providers in America will help the company grow its customer footprint and increase sales. Before being appointed to business development director at Lantiq, McDonald worked at AT&T, Fujitsu Network Communications and Centillium Communications.

Syniverse announces new CMO
Syniverse named Mary Clark chief marketing officer earlier this month. Clark has worked at Syniverse since 2009, and will be responsible for spearheading all company marketing, including branding, industry relations, corporate communications and strategic events. Clark said she will focus on mobile engagement as a core aspect of her marketing efforts.
