Small cells in an evolving mobile data world (video)

The small cell market has established a beach head in the 3G world thanks to the deployment of femtocells, distributed antenna systems and Wi-Fi networks designed to allow carriers to offload traffic or densify coverage in areas where macrocells can’t handle the load.

This model is expected to take on increased significance in the LTE world as carriers will see increased data usage from a growing customer base relying more on mobile Internet services than traditional voice.

RCR Wireless News spoke with Senza Fili Founder and President Monica Paolini to get some context on how small cells are currently being relied on by operators and where she sees the market evolving over the next 12 months.

More information on this topic can also be found in a webinar “Small cells and LTE: What’s a carrier to do?”

As well as a feature report “Small cells set to be a big part of LTE.”
