Futurecom 2012: Brazilian bureaucracy impeding wireless market development?

Brazil’s mobile operators face heavy bureaucracy and many regulations when deploying mobile sites. Many municipalities’ laws are impacting tower and mobile coverage in Brazilian cities. “There are big challenges for Brazil’s operators,” consultant John Strand told RCR Wireless News in a video interview during the Futurecom event last week in Rio de Janeiro.

According to Strand, the government needs to help mobile carriers improve mast regulation. “It is necessary to find out who is creating the problem for the operators,” he said.
