Futurecom 2012: ‘Wi-Fi is on fire in Brazil,’ says Ruckus’ CEO

RIO DE JANEIRO – Ruckus’ president and CEO, Selina Lo, who has been chosen by RCR Wireless News as one of the Top 10 Women in Wireless for 2012. is on a mission to bring Wi-Fi connectivity to everyone and it is no different in Brazil. “Wi-Fi is on fire in Brazil,” Lo said in a video interview, held at this week’s Futurecom event.

Telecom operators in Brazil have major Wi-Fi projects going on and Lo showed optimism regarding future perspectives on using Wi-Fi to offload 3G and even LTE. During Futurecom, Ruckus announced a Wi-Fi project with Brazilian carrier Oi.

Lo also forecasted that over the next three years, Brazil will become one of the most critical markets for Ruckus.

Earlier this year, the director at Ruckus Wireless Latin America, Andre Queiroz, commented about enterprise vertical.  “Currently, only 20% of enterprises have indoor coverage. We believe it will reach 50% over next three or four years,” he said in an exclusive interview (read full story).
