Peru’s ProInversión, which is an agency tasked with the promotion of private investments in the country, has again postponed the spectrum auction for the provision of public telecommunication services. The new auction date is now set for the middle of August.
ProInversión had previously changed the auction date from July 19 to July 24. This information was confirmed by ProInversión’s Jesus Eduardo Guillen Marroquin.

In the provinces of Lima and Callao, the 899MHz-915MHz and 944MHz-960MHz bands are set to be auctioned. The 902MHz-915MHz and 947MHz-960MHz bands are set to be auctioned covering the rest of the country. Carriers will be able to offer mobile voice, data and value-added services across these bands.
The auction will have limited participation for larger operators that are currently already close to the 60 megahertz spectrum cap instituted by the government.
Marroquin said Americatel, which is owned by Entel Chile, and Vietnam Viettel might bid.
