Samsung’s Smart TV just keeps getting smarter – at SXSW Interactive the company was showing off a model that responds to hand motions and voice commands. The TV’s camera recognizes faces as well as hand motions, meaning that controls or preferences can be set for different viewers. Samsung’s representative at SXSW said the 55-inch model with OLED display will retail for about $3,500, a price that may make some of us decide that searching for that remote isn’t really so bad.
Samsung said that as people are spending more and more time with their smartphones, the time is right for a TV that looks and works like a smartphone. Of course the Smart TV includes a Web browser, and Samsung says its cloud service will allow automatic sharing between its smart TVs, handsets and cameras.
