Apple Inc. (AAPL) opened up the iCloud.com interface for developers yesterday and revealed pricing for the service that will launch this fall. Apple plans to offer users up to 5 GB for free and will charge $20 for 15 GB, $40 for 25 GB or $100 for 55 GB per year.
Early users of the service, including some non-developers that were able to access the new features temporarily, report a striking similarity to the user experience on the iPad with a familiar iOS feel. Web services such as calendar and contacts are said to be very similar to Apple’s iPad apps.
Apple’s refreshed cloud-based offering will also serve as a portal for iWork documents, giving users access to files in Pages, Numbers and Keynote from the cloud. iCloud is expected to launch in the coming months along with iOS 5 and a new iPhone.
