PHILADELPHIA – The tower industry has seen its fair share of ups and downs, a trend that seems set to continue as new entrants in the mobile space could help replace those being lost to consolidation and those that remain look to both save costs on deployments while fortifying their networks to support data services.

Some of those concerns were presented on a panel at the recent RCR Wireless News Mobile Broadband Global Tour stop in Philadelphia, where Jack Rupert, VP of acquisitions and development at Clearview Tower Co. and Leonard B Stevens, president of Tower Economics Co. Inc., provided their thoughts on the current market and how it’s impacting smaller tower owners.
