RCR Wireless News global tour set for next week in Philadelphia

RCR Wireless News’ visit to Philadelphia is set to begin next week, bringing with it a one-day conference scheduled for June 8 as well as a visit to the city to get an update on its municipal Wi-Fi project.
The RCR Wireless News Mobile Broadband Philadelphia tour will include several days meeting with local telecommunication leaders and associations as well as a conference. To set up a meeting in Philadelphia with RCR Wireless News please contact Dan Meyer at [email protected].
As the country’s No. 5 largest city with more than 1.5 million people living within the city limits and more than 6.1 million people living in the surrounding metropolitan area, Philadelphia is indeed a hub of activity. According to a 2005 PricewaterhouseCoopers survey, Philadelphia ranked No. 4 among U.S. cities and No. 9 across in the globe in GDP at $312 billion.
Like much of the country, Philadelphia is witnessing a rebound in economic growth driven by employment gains. The telecommunications space is seen as a key driver in that growth as the city hosts a number of major players in the space, including Comcast Corp., Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., Airband Communications Inc. and others.
Our visit to Philadelphia will also include a half-day in person and online conference on June 8 at the Sheraton Philadelphia University City Hotel, where attendees will be able to get a better understanding of how carriers and suppliers are addressing the market’s insatiable demand for mobile data.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. with our pre-conference program that will include our live Morning Brew segment, a sponsored webinar and our Power Hour. All of these pre-conference events will be open to attendees as well as live streamed via the RCRTV website.
Scheduled to join RCR Wireless News Editor Dan Meyer for the Morning Brew segment are representatives from the Pennsylvania Wireless Association, Crown Castle Corp. and Yankee Group Senior Analyst Tole Hart.
At 10 a.m., Meyer will host a panel discussion looking at small tower owners, and will be joined by Jack Rupert, VP of Acquisitions and Development at Clearview Tower Co.; Leonard Stevens, President at Tower Economics; and Jim Fryer from Fryer Marketing.
The panel discussion will be followed by a product demonstration from event sponsor Mobideo at 10:50 a.m.
Following the demonstration, representatives from the Philadelphia branch of Mobile Monday will be on hand with Meyer to discuss the organizations purpose and benefits it brings to the local market.
The RCR Wireless News Power Lunch program will follow at 11:30 a.m., where Meyer will be joined for a question and answer session with Chris Hillabrant, VP and GM for the Mid Atlantic Region at T-Mobile USA Inc., and at noon with Rajant CEO Bob Schena.
Those attending the day’s conference are welcome to sit in on the pre-conference activities, with conference registration, exhibitions and networking areas opening up at 11:30 a.m.
The conference itself will begin at 12:30 p.m., and will include a general session for all attendees as well as break-out sessions along two tracks: Applications, co-hosted with Mobile Monday Philadelphia; and an Infrastructure track co-hosted with the Pennsylvania Wireless Association.
