Mavenir Systems, innovator of mobile infrastructure solutions for LTE operators, announced the acquisition of privately-held Airwide Solutions, provider of mobile messaging solutions. This acquisition positions Mavenir as a strong global force fully capable of enabling mobile operators to transform their core network and launch converged voice, video and messaging services over LTE. Mavenir Systems also announced it has raised $40 million in its fifth round of funding. New investor August Capital leads this round that includes North Bridge Venture Partners, Austin Ventures, Alloy Ventures, Greenspring Associates and Cross Creek Capital that also joins as a new investor. Polycom, unified communications, announced it will acquire the assets of HP’s Visual Collaboration business, including the Halo Products and Managed Services business.
In conjunction with this acquisition, HP and Polycom have agreed to establish a strategic relationship in which Polycom will serve as an exclusive partner to HP for telepresence and certain video UC solutions, including both resale and internal HP deployments. The two companies have also agreed to make available Polycom’s video applications for HP’s WebOS platform.
TelePacific Communications, California-based CLEC providing integrated voice and data telecommunications services, announced it has completed the acquisition of Orange County Internet Xchange (OCiX), provider of carrier class colocation services. OCiX operates a 10,000 square-foot SAS 70 Type II certified facility located in Santa Ana, California. TelePacific plans to expand the facility to 18,000 square feet in the near future.
