Mexican operator Cablemas develops IP Telephony with Cirpack 2011

Technicolor | May 26, 2011 | Press Release

Paris (France), 26 May 2011 – Technicolor (Euronext Paris: TCH) has won a contract to supply a Cirpack softswitch to Cablemás, one of the leading providers of cable television in Mexico for almost 40 years, and now part of Televisa Group. Cablemás, who was in 2006 the first cable operator to be given the licence to offer telephony service, is also known for its leadership in implementing state-of-the-art technology to benefit its subscribers.

This contract for Cirpack softswitch allows Cablemás to roll out IP telephony service to small towns where subscribers were clamouring for advanced connectivity. The highly scalable and flexible architecture of Cirpack made it an ideal choice.

“We investigated the market for suitable switches, particularly looking for proven products which would scale readily across all our locations. The Cirpack platform is robust, proven and matches perfectly our architecture needs. Furthermore it is very cost-effective, which is key for the small cities where we want to deliver the telephony service” said Cecilia Pedraza, CTO of Cablemás”.

“This is an excellent new win for Technicolor and for our Cirpack solution. We are delighted to provide our services to this key player in Mexico, and this deal reinforces our position as strategic technology partner in the region” said Romain Waller, General Manager IPTV solutions & VoIP at Technicolor. “Cable and Telcos everywhere – not only in Mexico and Latin America – are very active in rolling out IP telephony with all the attractive functionality it offers subscribers, and many are choosing Cirpack because of it ensures outstanding product innovation and continuity.”
