Nokia Siemens Networks said it was selected by Iraqi wireless provider Zain Iraq to provide its One-NDS subscriber data management solution.
NSN said the solution will unify the carrier’s subscriber data, which is currently spread across its network, into a single database. The deal also calls for NSN to expand Zain’s home location register and provide integration and consulting services.
Zain is one of the world’s 20 largest wireless carriers with operations in the Middle East and Africa serving more than 70 million customers. Zain’s operations in Iraq began in 2004 under MTC Atheer before being rebranded under the Zain name in 2008. The carrier claims more than 12 million customers.
