A group of top mobile operators have publicly committed to launching and supporting Near Field Communications technology in short order, according to the GSMA.
The group of 15 global operators making the early commitment to launch NFC services in some markets by 2012 includes: America Movil, Axiata Group Berhard, Bharti, China Unicom, Deutsche Telekom, KT Corp., MTS, Orange, Qtel Group, Softbank Mobile, Telecom Italia, Telefonica, Telekom Austria Group, Telenor and Vodafone.
With the group, GSMA says it “will develop the necessary certification and testing standards to ensure global interoperability of NFC services.”
