Movers & Shakers: HP shakeup; S&T new appointments; and more

Hewlett-Packard Co. announced that its board of directors has appointed five new members, effective Jan. 21. The appointments bring the total number of board members to 17 until HP’s next annual meeting of stockholders in March, at which time the size of the board is expected to be reduced to 13 members. The new directors are Shumeet Banerji, CEO of Booz & Co.; Gary Reiner, former CIO of General Electric Co. and a current special advisor to private-equity firm General Atlantic; Patricia Russo, former CEO of Alcatel-Lucent; Dominique Senequier, CEO of AXA Private Equity; and Meg Whitman, former president and CEO of eBay Inc. The five new directors also will stand for re-election at HP’s next annual meeting of stockholders in March.

Strategy & Technology (S&T), provider of interactive television technologies around the world, announced that it has promoted Adrian Fowkes to chief technical officer, Americas and Kate Chaux to director of operations, Americas; and has hired Steven Gravlin as senior sales account manager. The appointments are a part of a strengthening plan that responds to market and customer demands in North America. Gravlin, has previously worked as a sales director at Comcast Media Center and spent several years in sales at Fox Cable Networks. Virtela, largest provider of independent managed network, security and cloud services company, announced that B.V. Jagadeesh has joined as president and chief executive officer as the company builds upon its continued growth. Prior to joining Virtela, Jagadeesh served as group vice president and general manager of Citrix Systems’ Application Networking Group after the company’s acquisition of NetScaler, where he served as president and CEO. Jagadeesh serves as chairman of the board of NetMagic Solutions and was a director of Ankeena (acquired by Juniper Networks) and Ocarina Networks (acquired by Dell).

BlueCava, provider of advanced technology that enables businesses to identify and profile the devices used by their customers, announced the appointment of six members to its advisory board. The new board will provide expertise and guidance in several areas, including privacy, e-commerce, mobile payments, fraud, technology, and online advertising. The new advisory board includes Joe Sullivan, CSO at Facebook, Ellen Moskowitz, VP of fraud management solutions at MasterCard, Brian Waldman, VP of marketing and strategy at Merchant Warehouse, Steven Klebe, VP of business development & strategy for Bill to Mobile, Russell Villemez VP and account CTO capability leader for enterprise services at Hewlett-Packard (HP), Souheil Badran, senior VP & general manager of e-commerce solutions at First Data Corp.
