Cricket launches Muve Music in Las Vegas

Cricket Communications Inc. isn’t necessarily blazing any new trails with Muve Music, but it hopes to generate some early interest in the all-you-can-listen service in the city that never sleeps. The Leap Wireless International Inc. (LEAP) subsidiary launched Muve Music in its Las Vegas market today and plans to expand the service to at least a dozen other markets this spring.
Nokia Corp. tried for a similar offering with its Ovi Music (or Comes with Music) service, but recently shuttered the unlimited subscription service in 27 countries. By contrast though, Nokia’s offering subsidized customers access to music through the price of handsets while Cricket is packaging Muve Music into a monthly rate plan.
Cricket’s Muve Music will cost $55 per month and include unlimited calling, messaging and web along with access to unlimited full track downloads from all four of the major record labels.
“We are very pleased to bring Las Vegas customers our new unlimited wireless rate plan that includes unlimited music. With Muve Music, Cricket has brought together the best of wireless and music in a way no one has ever done before,” Doug Hutcheson, president and CEO of Cricket Communications, said in a prepared statement. “Muve Music provides a superior mobile experience for customers who want to create a personal music experience without being tethered to a computer.”
